| Grease Interceptors - Why Are They Required?
The Problem Grease, oil and fat are present in the preparation methods of modern methods. This results in one of the most overlooked drainage problems. In restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools and public house, the collection of the discarded fat in the drainage system can cause severe blockages, flooding and at worst, work stoppages for several hours.
When warm, grease and oils flow freely, but after cooling down they can block pipes and chambers causing significant problems further down the line.
Environmental pressure prompted the introduction of legislation aimed at minimising pollution of our waterways. One of the consequences of this legislation has been the demand for grease management equipment.
The Solution Kent Stainless have developed one of the most technically advanced solutions available. It works by separating grease, oil and fat from the drainage water.
Separation is achieved by reducing the velocity of the incoming liquid in the interceptor causing the grease to separate from the water and rise to the surface. There it is broken down by Biological Bacteria allowing the water to flow out of the interceptor into the drainage system.
Advantages of Using the Kent Interceptor The Kent Grease Interceptor has been designed with the customer in mind. In our range of interceptors we have four main types.
Our standard single sealed unit with a checker plate lid is available in painted mild steel or in stainless steel. This unit has an easy to remove cover, which is locked in place with four bolts and a specially designed sampling point on the outlet so that the water leaving the unit can be tested at any time.
Our standard double sealed unit with a checker plate lid is available in painted mild steel or in stainless steel. This unit has an easy to remove cover, which is locked in place with four bolts and a specially designed sampling point on the outlet so that the water leaving the unit can be tested at any time.
Our double sealed recessed unit with a recessed manhole lid for floors with a concrete, tile or vinyl finish is available in painted mild steel or in stainless steel. This unit has an easy to remove cover, it is secured in place by its own weight or it can be lockable if required and a specially designed sampling point on the outlet so that the water leaving the unit can be tested at any time.
Our double sealed floor mounted unit is designed to sit on the floor and is only available in stainless steel. This unit has an easy to remove cover, it is secured in place with a number of countersunk bolts and a specially designed sampling point on the outlet so that the water leaving the unit can be tested at any time. Kent’s have standard size units but if required we can design a unit to meet the need of the client. |
