Pharmaceutical Double Contained Box Channel Trench Drain – KSBCDC350

The Double Contained version aka Dual Skin version of our Standard Box Channel – for areas with hazardous chemicals, OEB5 Discharge and often for Firewater Evacuation.  The KSBC300DC channel is designed for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical industry and has been used also in the Nuclear Industry and in the Beverage Industry where there are high concentrations of acidic discharge.

Comes with a built-in fall as standard.  Widths are measured by using the Grating width, and the actual channel width adds 20mm to either side of the grating for a turnout/turndown edge profile. eg a KSBC3000 channel takes a 300mm wide grating and physically measures 350mm outside edge to outside edge.

Channel has a start depth of 150mm with 1:150 fall built-in giving an ending depth of 215mm on a 10m run with an outlet at the end or 185mm with an outlet in the centre. For Beverage, Pharmaceutical and Chemical plants, a high flow rate will be required and a KVDC215/4”/6” or KVDC315/6”/8” gully containing an integral foul air trap welded to a central point or to an end will be required.  The majority of American Multinational Pharmaceutical plants use SCH10 piping, and the standard grade of stainless is grade 316.  in the USA the drains are supplied with a bottom spigot outlet which can be further trapped with a P Trap usually sourced locally.

Flow rates of 8 litres per second minimum will then be achieved and this rate can be increased to 20 l/s or 32 l/s with different pipework.  Metric pipe versions eg 110mm/160mm are available for connecting to polypropelene pipework.

The Turnout/Turndown edge profile accepts concrete infill, and for particularly heavy load areas (>10T forklifts) this edge profile readily accepts a box section infill or a solid bar infill. Channel as standard is supplied with fully welded ends.  Corners and T sections are supplied fully welded.  Gullies are supplied fully welded and Contractor only connects straight lengths to straight lengths on sites.

Ideal manufacturing sizes are in 3m lengths or for very large quantities 6.0m lengths (reduces site time but adds to transport costs). The edge profile is designed to accept a 25mm deep grating as standard.  This is regularly increased to 40 or 50mm when the loading required dictates this. Typical gratings are Ladder Grating for forklift traffic area in factories – slotted grates are used often to help with small wheel traffic .
