Project Overview
In 2017, Miesian Plaza, located on Baggot Street in Dublin, underwent a comprehensive renovation. Kent Stainless was selected to provide a range of custom stainless steel solutions to enhance both the functionality and aesthetics of the plaza, ensuring the durability of key infrastructure elements.
Key Features
- Slot Drain & Heelproof Ladder Grating: Kent Stainless supplied slot drains and heelproof ladder grating gully covers to efficiently manage drainage across the plaza, ensuring a safe and durable solution for high-traffic areas.
- Transition Pieces: Custom-designed transition pieces were provided to seamlessly connect flat gullies to dished gullies, maintaining effective water flow and a smooth transition between surfaces.
- Heavy Traffic & Pedestrian Gully Covers:
- Slotted Square Gully Covers: For areas subject to heavy traffic (D400), Kent Stainless supplied robust slotted square gully covers.
- Smaller Perforated Gully Covers: For pedestrian zones, smaller 170mm diameter perforated gully covers were installed to ensure efficient drainage while maintaining a clean aesthetic.
Additional Products and Features
- Recessed Manholes: Kent Stainless manufactured recessed manholes with neat corners for a refined look and easy access to utility infrastructure.
- Tactile Warning Studs & Anti-Skate Solutions: To enhance safety and functionality, Kent Stainless installed tactile warning studs at ground level, as well as Swoosh Anti-Skate studs on granite benches. Additionally, tactile strips were placed along bench joins for further safety and accessibility.
Utility Installations
- Drainage Solutions: All drainage systems, including the slot drains, gully covers, and transition pieces, were installed throughout the plaza to ensure proper water management and a clean, functional surface.
- Safety & Accessibility Features: The tactile warning studs, anti-skate studs, and tactile strips were installed to ensure that the space met accessibility standards and provided safety for pedestrians.
