DESCRIPTION
The Srowland Athy Water Treatment Plant receives up to 38.4 million litres of water per day from the river Barrow. Veolia’s project on the plant was to introduce their patented Actiflo Softening process – to solve a water hardness problem. Water hardness is well known to cause problems with scaling in boilers, pipes and hot water circuits – plus requires excess consumption of soaps and detergents
In this plant hydrated lime is used to remove the hardness. The resulting lime sludge is then de-watered by 2 of our Solids Technology P515 Belt Filter Presses along with 2 Polymer Batch Preparation Systems. The resulting dewatered sludge is further recycled and used in agriculture and industry.
