Joie De Vivre – UCD

In May 2012, Jill Pitko was commissioned to design, provide and install a piece of sculpture for the Student learning leisure and sport centre at University College Dublin. Jill approached Kent Stainless to provide the Stainless Steel component of the sculpture which is constructed from Duplex Stainless Steel in order to provide extra strength. The structure was required to support the bronze figure which rests on top of the Stainless Steel structure and also to accommodate possible loading from student seating. Local company Crosbies Brothers Ltd. carried out the powder coating on this project. Final installation was carried out by Kent Stainless site crew who worked closely with ARUP on the foundation design.
