In 2023, Kent Stainless provided two Type 2 In Ground Power Units for the DUMBO Improvement District. The Type 2 underfloor power boxes have 4nr 20 Amp sockets each – and are used to power an LED lighting system, and open-air Plaza events.
This project was a challenging one for the contractors, as the material used to pave the streets of DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass) are known as Belgian block – a type of pavement made of tooled rectangular granite stones. These stones were laid in the 1800s, and bear individual patterns for each street.
